it's the -itis... vacationitis

hola everyone! wow, it seems like i always wait about three months before i post again or something. but anyways, this will be a quick one. lately i've been convincing my dad to buy a mac and let me tell you, the apple store should give me commission because man, i'm always recommending their products and making a strong case for why people should buy them, like my advisor, dad, friends and family, etc. i've also been addicted to one tree hill and can't stop watching for anything in the world! this friend of mine from bio and IR, natasha, is in effing love with the show and when i was asking friends for suggestions on the next show to catch online, my friend, desiree, suggested it, as well. so yes, i am now just as bad as they, probably even worse, with this addiction to one tree hill. oh and besides the show, i've been trying to get in touch with friends and stuff all over again and it feels good to be talking to them. today i hung out with my buddy david. we went to visit the people that gave us this really cool scholarship last year (but they weren't there) and so we just ended up having lunch and spoke about college life, the family, his fraternity, PhiA, and a sorority i'm pretty interested in being part of, and many things in between. since i got home from school. i have mostly "hibernated" in my room. well, i guess it would be the exact opposite of hibernating since i've been up at all hours instead of just sleeping a whole lot (which i have actually done) and watching tv on a bunch of different websites. but still, i have hardly come out of the room, unless it's like for dinner, exercising with mom, and stuff. but yea, it feels great to be spending less time in my room and more time socializing with others. as a matter of fact, i have to make plans to chill with some friends of mine (like arielle- sorry it's taken me forever!), go visit my old high school, and help set up the district's music office for summertime. 


alrighty, i actually thought that this note would be a lot shorter than what it really was, but anyways, laterz =)

wrap up

wow, long time since i last posted. things got kinda crazy with school and stuff (not fun), but i'm finally up to my last final exam (tomorrow, yay!!!), which makes me feel really good. 


so i've been searching for free mac programs and i'm so mad that i JUST found programs i could have used this past year! but you know, at least i'll be able to use them next year. all of the other lists with "college apps" had a bunch of procrastinating programs, which i really love because i'm all about that, as well, but i need to obtain my degree somehow. i've also been looking for a real kick ass (freeware) photo editing app. as you can see, i'm a broke college student and can't afford photoshop... and my friend matt got his program off another friend of his, so he doesn't even have the cd or the code to install it on my computer. i've been having trouble running inkscape on my computer (and i have x11, too), but i guess i'll have to continue this search for a free photoshop-esque program. 

oh! i also went to this great party for my friend, sarah, on friday. it was her birthday/going away party. very fun, very fun. i'm also packing for the move back home. most of the school will be gone like by wednesday/thursday. it's kinda bitter-sweet since i've been dying to go back to my room at home and spend time with my parents, but a bunch of my true friends are here at school. i have found people that love me for whatever the hell i am- crazy, fat, random- you name it. i'm really gonna miss my new college buds.

well, i think i'm gonna chill for a little while longer and then wake up fabi so we can get some breakfast =)

feelin kinda artsy =)

wow, i really need to keep up with this blogging thing. so anyways, lately i've been seeing this creative side of me that i haven't seen this strong in a while. creativity and the arts have always been a big part of my life, but i ended up choosing majors that are no where near the arts- international relations and psychology. nonetheless, i feel that i have to keep including it in my life in some sort of way.


for a very long time, i have been a dancer and musician. the thing is that i quit dancing (for various reasons) during the winter of 11th grade and i haven't touched my flute or piccolo since june of last year. a few weeks ago, i had to make a flyer for my floor committee and i received lots of compliments from other friends on my floor throughout the week. i got so into the process of playing around with fonts and editing the entire poster/flyer/thingamajig that it sparked this big interest in me. so, to fulfill that love of color and creativity, i checked out these cool websites for downloadable fonts that my dad e-mailed me and i went nuts with the stuff they had. now i'm looking at stock photography, which i've always thought was pretty cool. i guess that when i go home for spring break next weekend, i have to make sure i bring my manual camera back to school with me.

in case you haven't already heard, winter in syracuse is heavy duty stuff, but when you admire nature and the environment that surrounds you, you'll notice just how gorgeous the trees look when they're filled with snow and how the colleges and other buildings help make a nice background. it's just wonderful =)

alrighty, i'm gonna go back to looking at pictures. i plan on making some posters of my own- printing them out and hanging them on my dreary cinderblock walls lol. god, these dorms are like a prison cell if you don't decorate!

giants win!!!

omg, big blue beat the patriots!!! it's a friggin miracle! wow, great game. i'm really happy most especially for eli manning since everyone was talking smack about him. serves them right. he played an amazing game out on that field in arizona against one of the greatest teams in the nfl. sweet game! finally a superbowl i'm really nuts about, although last year's was pretty amazing, too, with the other manning hermano =)



ok, so homework is such a biotch. i reeeeeaaaaalllllyyyy don't feel like reading for IR. ugh. 8:25 class- not nice AT ALL!!! monday wednesday and friday at that obscene time! what the hell, man?! oh, but last friday i fell asleep doing my reading for class and woke up thinking that i was right on schedule. yea right. i walk into class and my professor's talking to the class, makes a funny remark about me, and i try to see what time it is, and it turns out to be one minute before class is over. the guy in front of me made some funny remark about "why the hell did i even bother coming to class" and how he would've stayed in his room lol. and i was just like "shit, i had no effing idea!!!". but the prof was cool. he let me sign the attendance sheet. very VERY nice.

personally, i feel that the monday after superbowl sunday should be an automatic day off. it's like a national holiday! plus, who the hell is going to read a full chapter about the different political perspectives and their connection to World War II, study for a stats test that encompasses about three chapters, sleep, watch the superbowl, and rest up for the week ahead? i think hillary should consider this when she becomes president. 

ok, time to stop procrastinating, watch an episode of Lost, and read up for IR. ......... not cool. aight, later dudes.

alright, so it's taken me forever to type up this first blog post, but here it is! i just hope that i keep up with it. so i guess i'll start with the basics:


my name is maria. i'm a college freshman. last year as a senior, my class voted me "most stressed out"... which was so true. i was part of so many different clubs and organizations, not to mention that schoolwork was pretty difficult and complicated for me. anyways, i go to syracuse university (go orange!). i love my college! this was one of the schools i was praying to get into during the dreadful application process. dorm life is very interesting. my first roommate and i clashed a lot, but she did with a bunch of other people on my floor. my current roommate (and her boyfriend, whom i call "the roommate-in-law" or "the second roommate") are absolutely wonderful. they're so sweet and it's really great sharing a living space with her (ummm, them lol). besides the roomies, my floormates are pretty cool, too. we grew so close in such a short amount of time. we got to school a few days before classes started and i think we spent every single moment together. by the time the first day of class rolled around, it felt like we hadn't seen each other in so long since we were separated throughout the day. now that the year is very well under way, we're definitely not as attached at the hip as we were in august, but it's fun to still have dinner together or run into each other in the hallway. we miss each other a whole lot during vacation, but that just makes the reunions before classes begin even more fun. 

ok, so we've covered high school and college. personally, i'm a VERY random person, in case you couldn't already tell. it's so much fun being random. life is much more sweeter and interesting like that.


right now, i'm creating a flipbook on flip.com. i'm still trying to make up my mind about what it should be about. anyways, i think i'll go google some stuff of fashion or music or electronics... something.
